This article is about a flyer that was made from 12reasons.com about how gay marriage will ruin society. However, this flyer is filled with incorrect reasons against gay marriage. I think if someone is against homosexuality, they should at least use resonable reasons. For exmaple, "Obviously gay parents will raise gay children because straight parents only raise straight children....Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and it hasn't changed at all: women are property, Blacks can't marry Whites, and divorce is illegal....Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are always imposed on the entire country. That's why we only have one religion in America....Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages will for gays & lesbians."
These reasons are incorrect for the following reasons:
- It have never been proven that gay parents raise gay children. I personally know homosexuals who have straight parents
- Women are not property, blacks can marry whites, and divorce is legal.
- We have many religions in America because our constitution states "freedom of religion."
- "Separate but equal" institutions are unconstitutional and didn't work for blacks and whites.
This angers me fully. Whom ever wrote this came up with the most unreasonable things to support anti-homosexuality. Do people actually believe this? Do the people who believe the reasons also believe gay marriage will "ruin society?" Why would the writer write this?
